This week the Making Afterschool Cool podcast focuses on increasing the odds of college success, especially among low-income, first-generation students. To speak on these issues is Kathy Rose, the Executive Director of College, Community Career. Kathy founded College, Community, Career in 2012 to help low-income, first-generation students in the greater Houston area to get into college and graduate from college.

Kathy Rose has worked as a secondary math teacher, a Corporate Trainer at Chevron, a Development Director at the University of Houston, and the founding Houston Director of College Forward. Kathy has served as a Board Trustee at numerous educational intuitions, as well as numerous non-profits. She is the recipient of the Jefferson Award, the Katz Award and the Houston Texan Community Quarterback Award.
